In Topic: Covid IR slots?

Just to note...all my leagues have decided to suspend this year and not play.  It's just too much of a mess to every try to bother with it (at least all of us agree in my leagues).  Just like you're seeing in MLB, you're going to have cancelled games, forfeits, lots of players in quarantine.  We're just not going to deal with it and taking a year off.

I wish you all good luck!

Been using Google Hangouts for years with my one remote owner.  Take a laptop or Chromebook to the bar, connect with remote owner, connect to one of the TVs via HDMI, run draft with him on Hangout for 6+ hours.  No problem.

Would be perfectly fine for all remote as well.

Bit late to the thread, but I'm not really seeing an issue here at all.  If  a player is out due to Covid, the team will list them as OUT just like any other reason (knee, arm, leg, illness).  So I'm not seeing an issue??

So it's really up to your league I guess on how many IR spots you allow and so forth.  Personally in my league we allow unlimited IR (I just don't care if you have 20 guys on IR) and only for players listed as IR or OUT.

Now there could be an issue if you only allow 1 IR slot or IR only.  But is this really any different if the flu goes thru a team?  Not really, unless they do mandatory 14 day quarantine or something.  But if that starts happening then we have much greater issues such as the whole team out for 2 weeks, games cancelled, the teams they played the last 2 weeks also now out for 2 weeks.  Basically a huge mess.

Honestly I'm really thinking about just cancelling the fantasy season and freezing all rosters (keeper league).  We are a "big money" league so the above scenario, which will happen, will be really unfair to a bunch of owners.  And instead just do a one year redraft for just a couple bucks and call it good.  Then if it all blows up, no fuss no muss.

Not even an issue for my leagues.  People pay at the draft when they show up.  This is late August.  We'll know by then what's going on.  :)

As for the MFL fee perhaps being lower due to less games, more money in the pot for the winners.  Then again, we're "big money" leagues and the $5 per team for MFL or whatever it works out to be is small potatoes and not even a concern.

My two local leagues always do live drafts as well.  We've already discussed this in my league.  If for some reason social distancing is still strict end of August then we'll take over more tables in the bar and spread out (we know the owner, not a problem).

If we had to we'll just do it over hangout/zoom/skype and draft live on the MFL web site which works plenty fine and thousands of league do online live drafts.  We could also do an email draft as well, easy enough.

Not really worried, it will go the way it goes.  We'll deal with it.
