Will there be problems (hiccups) if a newer version of the jquery library is loaded for custom scripts (habman's, theeohiostate's, et al.)?

<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/3.3.1/jquery.min.js"></script>

in lieu of -

<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.12.0/jquery.min.js">/script>

Just asking.

There is ZERO reason to try to update the Jquery….NONE.  Unless it posses a security risk because of expired support, then maybe yes it is a need to do so.

You can swap it out and see if everything still is good to go, if you just want to try It out... Again unless it stops working or there is a breach in the software, I wouldn't be changing it out just because...  My .2 cents.

Thanks for your advice Guru.

I read thru some of the pros and cons on the net regarding upgrading to the latest version of library and have decided that unless the script developers here tell us to do so, (i.e., they are using an added feature in newer version), I'm going to leave well enough alone.

Has this been around or is it new?

I just noticed that under Setup > Images and other URLs there is an option to load a JQuery Library (Yes/No).

I clicked on yes and it loaded https://cdnjs.cloudf...1/jquery.min.js

I'm thinking that I shouldn't load it since previous posts here say there isn't a good reason to replace //ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.12.0/jquery.min.js that I'm currently using.

So, is this a recent addition or have I been blind B) and should I (we) continue to keep using 1.12.0?

This is new , i requested it last week and appears they just got it added.

jQuery 3.4.1 is the latest version , we have already updated the majority of our scripts to work with the newest library.

So you can check the option to load the library and then remove it from your header messages

If you notice any errors with older scripts , let us know with link to your league and we can get the older files updated

The latest library is much faster and more lightweight , so i'd recommend using it, plus if its loaded in the MFL header , will be much better then a HPM

If you have written your own scripts or want to troubleshoot , you can install the jQuery migrate tool and go to this website on how to upgrade your scripts with console errors - https://github.com/j...ter/warnings.md

So I flipped that switch to 'yes' and I can now delete both(?) of these?

I'd remove the font awesome js file and use this instead in its place

<link href="https://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/font-awesome/4.7.0/css/font-awesome.min.css" rel="stylesheet">

Or better yet to get the file to load faster

you can remove the font awesome js file , and use @import in your css file to attach it

at the very top of css file add this

@import url(https://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/font-awesome/4.7.0/css/font-awesome.min.css);

Thanx, TOS...can it go in that same header message or would it be better placed in my CSS file?
